Normally windows saves the "My Documents" folder on the current partition where you installed Windows. But when you right-click on it and go to properties, you can change the location where you want windows to save your Documents folder.
So if your Windows crash and you have to format the partition, you don't have to bother to backup your files or data on "My Documents" folder.
